Our Meetings
We have monthly meetings during the semester. The general idea is to meet for about two hours in a laid-back atmosphere to network, discuss about math and share ideas! During the meeting we will have a different activity each time (ca. 45 min) followed by a purely socializing moment in which we will have dinner all together! In order to create an environment suited for everyone's needs, we will have different kinds of activities. For example:
- math and career talks given by more advanced mathematicians
- tell me your math story: interviews with women in math in and outside academia
- How to... sessions: e.g. how to get a PhD, explain math clearly to everyone, communication skills, achieve math-life balance, become a tutor, give talks, do research, study abroad, etc.
The specific topics of the activities will be shaped upon the interests of the participants.
The list above is only an example, every suggestion is welcomed. If you have more ideas, please, don't hesitate to let us know!
The first meeting will be on Monday April 22nd from 18.00 to 20.00 in M201!
The meetings take place from 18.00 to 20.00 every last week of the month during the semester.
The specific dates will be communicated in the first meeting.
We would like to organise every year also one or two socializing meetings tailored to the needs and wishes of the participants. These workshops may be various in nature, from sports activities to acquiring skills in math/life/social contexts.
List of Meetings
April 22nd, 18.00-20.00: Let's get to know each other!
During our first meeting we want to get to know each other a little better: Who are you? Why are you intrigued by mathematics in general? What topics are particularly fascinating for you? Was there an event that sparked your interest in mathematics? What are your interests? Which wishes/expectations do you have for this group?
All of this would be done in a catching way: come to find it out!
Here you find a link where you can suggest us possible math topics/guests/workshops/socialising activities: link We will be very happy to receive lots of ideas from you, so that we can build our next meetings in the way you like the most!
