Mini-Course: Stable Homotopy Theory

Dates and Location

This workshop will take place during April 1--5, 2019 (Monday--Friday, in the afternoons) in the SFB seminar room M311.

Aims and Scope

In this mini-course we will learn about stable homotopy theory and spectra beginning at the very basics. Roughly the first part (approx. 5 lectures) will cover the classical theory and will only require a moderate knowledge of classical Algebraic Topology. The second half aims towards more modern approaches. For this we try to keep the prerequisites as low as possible and we will try to provide extra exercise classes if needed.

The philosophy is to construct an informal atmosphere with ample opportunities to ask questions and discuss the course contents, both during the lectures and beyond.

This mini-course is aimed towards Ph.D. students but Postdocs and Master students are welcome too!

The first official motto of our course should be: There are no stupid questions. Let's all acknowledge from the start that most of us are no experts. We're here to learn, and that we'll embrace questions, including simple and basic ones.

Schedule

If you have questions please contact Marta Barigozzi, Kévin Francois or Benedikt Preis.
