 Competence in Communication and Appearance (Oct 13)

This workshop, which was held by Matthias Kating from Falkenberg Seminare, had the goal that the attendees should become more confident and authentic in communicating and in feedback situations, as well as becoming more aware of current priorities of advancing the attendees’ thesis. To help the women do so, they had to prepare a short presentation about themselves and then give feedback to each other, as well as by giving them methods on how to deal more calmly with stressful situations. 09:30 Introducing a Feedback method and getting individual feedback for yourself from the group regarding your appearance

10:45 Getting Input and training how to a) react more calmly to stressful criticism and b) dealing with difficult questions more confidently
12:00 Reflection on future goals: “What are the next milestones and priorities for my project? What are the next actions I need to take and what tips does the group have for me?

The Presentation

The attendees had to prepare a 2 minute presentation to introduce themselves at the start of the workshop, which had the aim of getting to know each other better.

The presentations included:

  • Who they are as a person and something no one knows about them
  • Current stand on their thesis and next milestones
  • Strengths and competences regarding confident appearance and communication
  • Weaknesses regarding a confident appearance and communication
  • Goals for the workshop/ Competences they want to develop
