The general theme of the seminar will be "(Co)homology Theories," and here's why:
Unlike the last semester we will not restrict to a single topic. Instead we will give freedom to the speaker to choose what they want to talk based on their interests.
*We want to encourage participation from diverse research groups, inviting speakers to choose topics they are experts in or passionate about.
In order to facilitate the choice of argument, here are some possible suggestions/leit motives that can be of interest:
*Freedom for Speakers: We invite you to present any cohomology theory (or homology theory) of your choice. Talks can range from introductory presentations to applications, whether in computation, comparison with other cohomology theories, or theorems derived from them.  
*Why is the naive approach wrong?
*Freedom for Audience: Unlike traditional seminars where talks are interconnected, our format allows each presentation to stand independently, meaning that even if you miss a talk, you can still fully engage with and understand the following ones.

Next talk and dinner form! (February 11)

This first week of the semester break, we are going to have the last meeting of this seminar! To mark the end of the semester, we are going to see a slightly different topic! PhD Seminar (Winter Semester 2024-25)

Philosophy

We want to maintain the atmosphere we had last semester, based on the following.

  • We want to encourage participation from diverse research groups, inviting speakers to choose topics they are experts in or passionate about.
  • We want speakers to be able to choose what they want to present. Talks can range from introductory presentations to applications, or overviews.
  • We want the audience to be always fully able to engage. Unlike traditional seminars where talks are interconnected, our format allows each presentation to stand independently, meaning that even if you miss a talk, you can still fully engage with and understand the following ones.


Theme
