I will show how Lurie's translation of Goodwillie calculus to the ∞-categorial setting can be used to prove that the best excisive approximation to the ℓ¹-chain complex functor is trivial. (I will define the latter; no previous knowledge will be necessary.) Depending on the wishes of the audience, i can also describe some of the difficulties that i encountered during this project from the viewpoint of someone who wants to use ∞-category theory but is not from the field itself.
