''Homotopy links and stratified homotopy theories''

The study of stratified spaces and their invariants was first motivated by Whitney's theorem, stating that any real or complex algebraic variety can be decomposed into strata that are smooth varieties satisfying gluing conditions. This led to numerous extension of invariants from manifold to pseudo-manifold - those objects that Whitney defined - such as intersection cohomology or the exit-path infinity category. Those extended invariant are only invariant under stratum preserving homotopies, which motivates the study of an appropriate homotopy theory of stratified spaces.

In this talk, I will present two independant - and a priori non-equivalent - ways of producing such a stratified homotopy theory. I will explain how the study of suitable generalization of Quinn's homotopy links allow for a comparison between these two point of views.

This talk will be based in part on work in common with Lukas Waas (Heidelberg University)

''Polynomial monads, Grothendieck homotopy theory and delooping of spaces of long knots''

Abstract: The category of polynomial monad (in Set) is a particular nice sort of monads well adapted for combinatorial calculations. The category of small categories is a full subcategory of the category of polynomial monads consisting of ‘linear' polynomial monads. But other well known monads are also polynomial. For example, free monoid monad, free operad monad, free cyclic or modular operad and many more.

Grothendieck homotopy theory is the homotopy theory of small categories and presheaves on them. Beside being beautiful it is also immensely practical as it allows to develop many tools for calculations in homotopy theory.

In this talk I am going to show that many fundamental constructions and results of Grothendieck theory can be expanded to the word of polynomial monads and their algebras which replace categories of presheaves in this context. This includes: Quillen Theorem A, Thomason theorems, theory of (algebraic) homotopy Kan extensions, theory of aspherical morphisms, locally constant algebras etc.. Moreover, there are new results which can not be considered in classical setting, for example, a theory of delooping of mapping spaces between algebras of polynomial monads.

As an illustration of these methods I will provide a new and more conceptual proof of a seminal theorem of Turchin and Dwyer-Hess on double delooping of space of long knots.

The straightening-unstraightening correspondence of Lurie provides an equivalence between cocartesian fibrations over an infinity-category and functors with values in infinity-categories. In this talk, I will describe an alternative proof of this equivalence in terms of Segal spaces. This proof is closer in spirit to the classical Grothendieck construction and relies on a combinatorial result relating two types of fibrations between double categories. If time permits, I will sketch how an iterated application of this result leads to a version of unstraightening for higher categories.

The category of motivic spectra over a field admits a t-structure, with non-negative part generated by the Thom spectra of virtual vector bundles on smooth proper varieties. This is called the Chow t-structure. Perhaps its most surprising property is the close connection to algebraic cobordism. I will explain this, as well as how the Chow t-structure recovers and generalizes the celebrated "cofiber tau" theory of Isaksen-Gheorghe et al.

Abstract: The Atiyah-Bott localization theorem allows to express equivariant cohomology
classes in terms of their residues on the fixed locus which turns out to be a powerful
tool for problems in enumerative geometry: Ellingsrud and Strømme
used it to give a count of smooth rational cubic curves on a complete
theorem in equivariant cohomology with coefficients in the Witt ring of quadratic forms.

In the talk I will recall the Atiyah-Bott localization theorem and its quadratic version.
Then I will apply it to get some quadratic enrichments of enumerative counts,
like the count of lines on a cubic surface or the count of smooth rational cubic curves
on a quintic threefold. This is based on joint work with Marc Levine.

Filter Quotient ∞-Categories - Nima Rasekh

Abstract: Classical topos theory broadly breaks down into two branches: Grothendieck topos theory, with applications in geometry, and elementary topos theory, with applications in logic. Grothendieck topos theory has already been generalized to the higher categorical setting, with applications ranging from derived geometry to Goodwillie calculus. On the other hand, the elementary aspects of higher topos theory have been recently on the rise with connections to elementary topos theory and homotopy type theory.

In this talk we introduce the filter quotient construction for ∞-categories with a chosen filter of subobjects. We will then focus on the particular case of filter products. Using filter products we will construct examples of higher toposes that are not Grothendieck, in the sense that they are not presentable and do not even have countable coproducts, and look at its implications on non-standard truncations levels.

If time permits, we will discuss how we can use the filter product construction to construct new models of homotopy type theory in the sense of Shulman and Lumsdaine, using model categorical techniques.

The [http://www-app.uni-regensburg.de/Fakultaeten/MAT/sfb-higher-invariants/images/stapleton-poster.pdf conference] will take place during the four days '''June 6-9, 2017''' at the [http://www.uni-r.de University of Regensburg]. Here is the [https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/80742553/schedule.pdf schedule]. Aside from Wednesday afternoon, the conference will take place in Room [http://www.uni-regensburg.de/impressum/medien/campus-english.pdf '''D 2.121'''], building WNDE (Natural Sciences West), 2nd floor. Registration and coffee breaks will be held nearby.

==Aims and Scope==

Transchromatic phenomena appear in a variety of contexts. These include stable and unstable homotopy theory, higher category theory, topological field theories, and arithmetic geometry. The aim of the conference is to bring together people from all of these areas in order to understand the relationship between each others work and to further demystify the appearance of transchromatic patterns in such disparate areas.

The conference will consist of 11 one hour long talks, six 30 minute long junior talks, and an open problems session.
The 6, 11, C6, and C11 towards campus can all be caught [https://goo.gl/maps/kUQDYWJbXTk here] and one of them stops at this stop about every 5 minutes during working hours.

You can pay for a bus ride on entering the bus or purchase a strip of tickets from one of the ticket machines. A strip of tickets costs 9.00 euros and it allows five bus rides.
==Statement of Inclusiveness==

We (the organizers) affirm that scientific events have to be open to everybody, regardless of race, sex, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, age, pregnancy, immigration status, or any other aspect of identity. We believe that such events have to be supportive, inclusive, and safe environments for all participants. We believe that all participants are to be treated with dignity and respect. Discrimination and harassment cannot be tolerated. We are committed to ensuring that this conference follows these principles.
==Excursion==

On Wednesday afternoon there will be a nature walk/hike to the [http://www.klosterschenke-weltenburg.de/ Monastery Weltenburg], 'the oldest monastery-brewery in the world.' It has been in operation since 1050 and its 'dunkel' beer has won several awards.

We will meet at 12:20 at the university bus terminal to take a bus to Kelheim and then we will walk from there or you can take the [http://www.schiffahrt-kelheim.de/ boat ride] (very nice in a different way). The hike will be roughly 1.75 hours and runs partially along the [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danube Danube river] and partially through the forest. Half of the walk will be flat and the second half will involve walking up a non-trivial hill. We will then take a ferry across the river to the monastery. Participants can then enjoy the monastery and the surrounding area and/or enjoy the biergarten.

We will return by bus from the Monastery. The bus will stop at the Hotel Apollo and at the Hauptbahnhof. <!-- The expected return time will be 18:30-18:45. -->

General Advice:
* Sunscreen and insect repellent are recommended.
* Shoes appropriate for walking through the woods are recommended.
* You will need CASH for any purchases on the ferry or at the monastery/biergarten.
